Buyer beware...

Recent article showing that half of the fish consumed is coming from raised farms...

(FISHIES)

Many do not realize that this is the equivalent to conventional farming and agriculture. These fish are not on a natural diet, but are fed corn and other grain that they are not suited to eat. They are also limited in their 'roaming' space and in the process end up swimming in their own un-washed feces.

We have all been told omega 3's are good for us, and that fish like salmon are loaded with them. Unfortunately, because these fish are not on a natural diet, you're not getting what you're paying for and are potentially setting yourself up for other health hazards. Fatty acids come in different ratios, and when the ratio's are higher as they are in the typical processed diet, then there is a greater chance for inflammation of tissues to occur. The other problem with farmed fish is the amount of PCB's it contains. Better known as Polychlorinated Biphenyl, these known carcinogens are linked to various ill health defects including but not limited to cancer, immune system defects, reproductive and neurological issues. Clearly something I would like to refrain from.

Other lesser known sources of omega 3 fatty acids...

Grass fed beef (The Movement Co-op)
pastured dairy
walnuts
cod liver oil (greener pastures)
flaxseed

Enjoy!
